Pacers and other volunteers have made ahuge difference in helping me achieve myrace goals. I paced the 1 hour30 minutegroup last year and I’m hoping to pay itforward again this year. It’sabsolutelymagical beingapart of another person’sjourney especially on race day, helping themhit that goal time they’ve been working sohard towards! See you on race day and don’tforget to pack the smiles!

Hey! My name is Rory, and I'm very excited to be pacing the 1hour45 minute group at the Canberra Times Fun Run HalfMarathon! Originally from Ireland and living in Melbourne, I wantto see more of Canberra and can't think of a better way to do thatthan by pacing a run around the city. Excited to meet some fellowrunners and hopefully help a few folks set a brand new PB!

For the park runners amongst you, you mayrecognise me as The BigBarcode Guy. I am a veteran of over 20 marathons and several ultramarathons. I have previously paced at the Sunshine Coast Marathon andthe Brighton Beach Marathon, and the Canberra Times Fun Run will be mythird pacing experience. I am excited to be joining the Sole Motive
team at Canberra Times Fun Run this year for the half marathon, supportingand encouraging fellow runners in achieving their running goals. I am astrong believer running enhances mental and physical well-being,with lifelong benefits. I see pacing as a great way to give back to the sport Ilove so much. For me, it is more about the journey than the destination. If Ican encourage and inspire just one person, then it is all worth it, however, the more the merrier.

I love pacing - especially thecombination of chatting, supportingother runners and doing numbers in myhead to make sure we finish just ontime. I'm thrilled to have 2hrs this year -it's a landmark time for many of us, andlast year we had several people meetthat goal for the first time! I like to set asteady pace, hitting off each km andlooking forward to seeing people flydownhill for those last few km.

I've paced the Canberra Times Half Marathon threetimesand each one has been a highlights reel of sweaty smilesand surprise PB's. There's nothing quite like the buzz of raceday, the nervous smiles, the pounding feet and the sharedexperience. Being a pacer means I get to help peopleharness that energy to achieve their goals. I love bringing myfavourite running soundtrack and providing all the banter tohelp keep spirits high and legs steady. Think of me as yourpersonal cheer squad with a stopwatch.

Siobhan decided to become a pacer because she loves supporting others toreach their goals. She believes there’s something powerful about the sharedexperience of striving together and feeling the motivation and strength of thosearound you. Having run distances from half marathons, marathons and otherlonger events, Siobhan is excited to contribute byrecognising the effort ofothers and sharing the experience on the day.
This is her first time pacing, and she’s looking forward to the fun, connection, and energy of running as a group.

Started running two years ago and quickly developed a passion for the sport. Sincethen, I’ve completed two marathons and am now taking on my first pacing role.Excited to give back to the running community that’s given me so much, by helpingothers achieve their goals and enjoy the journey.

My running experience includes a couple marathons and countless half marathons all aroundthe world including in Cambodia around the Angkor Wat temples which was an amazingexperience despite the heat! I had the pleasure of pacing the 2:20 HM group at the CTFR lastyear and am so thrilled to have the opportunity to do it again. I’ve yet to find many otherthings in life that contribute to both my mental and physical health like running does so Ican’t wait to run together at this year’s event, particularly those who might be tackling theirfirst half marathon!
One thing that I’m proudest of is returning to running from injury, which I think is anexperience many can unfortunately relate to. I ruptured my ACL almost 3 years ago, underwent the ACL reconstruction and lengthy rehab and experienced a slower recoverythan normal due to complications so can understand the frustration and impatience thataccompanies return to running from injury. Have since run two marathons post-surgerythough so am also a big believer in putting in the work and testing your limits!

I have been running fora number of years both road andtrail. I decided to be a pacer for the first time to supportrunners to achieve their running goal.I’ll be running atthe back to make sure no one gets left behind. My job isto help you cross that finish line smiling within the timelimit. So, if you see me coming up,don’t panic — I love tohave a chat and run with you or just keep a steady pacebehind.
