    If you register for the event before 11:59pm Monday, 14 March 2021your first name will be printed on your race bib. You must have selected postage to get your name on your bib. 

    I have toddler, do they have to pay?

    Children under four years of age are not required to pay the entry fee, however for safety and insurance reasons you will be required to provide details in the registration process.

    I can no longer participate – what happens now?

    You don’t have to notify Sole Motive (the organiser) if you are unable to run for any reason. However, there are no refunds for non-starters or non-finishers.


    We do offer the following:


    Withdrawal from the event: Withdrawals receive a credit note if they are made before 5:00pm, Friday 1 April 2022.After this date, no credit notes will be issued. Credit notes are valid for 1 year from the date of issuing and valid for Sole Motive owned events and cannot be used for contracted events. Refunds will not be issued. When an entrant registers, they agree to the below terms and conditions;


    T&C #15. I agree that there are no refunds, however, I may request a credit note for other SM owned events (minus $10 for admin fees) no later than 5pm, one month prior to the event. After this date, no credit notes will be issued. Credit notes will not be issued when downgrading distances. Credit notes will be valid for SM owned events and cannot be used for contracted events. Credit notes are valid for 1 year from the date of issuing.

    I’ve already registered but I want to join a team

    If you wish to join a team, you can do so through your registration link.

    I accidentally entered the wrong details on my registration – how do I fix this?

    • If you need to update your details you can do so via Register Now
    • Please log in and click the cogwheel within your Run the Rock registration, then click ‘My Registration’. On the next page, click ‘Edit’, update your details and then click ‘Save’.

    I have lost or never received my confirmation email, can I have it resent?

    Please ensure you have checked your junk/spam folder for your confirmation email (e-ticket). If you can still not locate it, you can log via Register Now and choose to resend your registration email.

    Can my friend take my entry if I can no longer participate?

    There is a $10 admin fee to transfer your entry into someone else’s name. Please email No later than Friday April 22, 2022.

    How do I upgrade/DOWNGRADE my race?

    Downgrade from your race: Event downgrades can be made online up until 29 April 2022. Use this link. Refunds/credit notes cannot be issued for the difference in entry fee (if any) when downgrading your distance

    Can I register at the event?

    Onsite entries will be available in the Event Village at Hanging Rock Reserve, Hanging Rock on Saturday 30 April from 7am.

    On Course

    Toilet, drink & first-aid locations

    Public and portable toilets are located at the Event Village as well as a first aid post.Please refer to relevant distance page for on course toilet and drink station locations.

    Can I run with headphones?

    We strongly discourage the use of headphones on the course. If you do choose to use headphones while running, please ensure that you are still able to hear what is happening around you.

    Can I have a supporter ride a bike next to me?

    No personal support riders or bike riders within the vicinity of runners are permitted on course. It is the responsibility of each athlete while running to ensure that no bikes are on the course near the runners. Any transgression will result in disqualification from the event.

    Can I run with a pram?

    Prams are permitted in all events –please note 50% of each course is off road/on fire trails. It is recommended you use a running pram. 

    Can I run as a support person for someone who needs assistance?

    If you are running to lend a helping hand to someone who is unable to run without you, then please contact Sole Motive

    Can I run with my dog?

    Hanging Rock is part of a National Park therefore dogs are only permitted on lead in the event village.

    Wheelchair information

    Racing Wheelchair: the course is not suitable for racing wheelchairs. Non Racing Wheelchair: Sole Motive accommodates wheelchairs in the 5km. The course is on unmade trails and therefore challenging. Please contact Sole Motive if you are thinking of joining us at the event.

    Race Packs

    Race Pack Postage and Collection

    There are three options to collect your race kit:


    Option 1 – Postage: If you wish to have your race pack posted to you, you must register before 11:59pm, 13 April 2022. Please note, a delivery fee of $8.95 applies.


    Option 2 – Pickup from Sole Motive Retail 170 Queens St Melbourne OR 757 Glenferrie Rd Hawthorn 3122:


    If you wish to “collect from the Sole Motive store”, race packs will be available for collection from 12:00pm, 21 April 2022 until 5pm 28 April 2022.


    Option 3 – Pickup at the event site:


    You can collect your Race Pack at the event site on Saturday 30 April 2022, from 7:00am.


    For the purpose of Race Bib collection, you will be provided with a QR code.


    Your E ticket will be sent to you on 20 April 2022, if you enter after this date, you will receive your E ticket when you register. 


    Please have it printed or on your phone to be scanned when you collect your race bib. 


    Merchandise will not be mailed out, during the entry process, it will be ready for collection at the event.

    Race Weekend


    Will be available closer to the day.



    Allow 1 hour from Melbourne on the Calder Freeway. Stay on the freeway past both the Macedon and Woodend turn-offs. You will see a sign with a picture of Hanging Rock that indicates turn-off is 5km further on. You must take the ‘Woodend, Lancefield and Romsey’ turn-off from the Calder Freeway. 



    The car park will open from 7.00am. The only point of entry to Hanging Rock Racecourse is off South Rock Road. Once you enter Hanging Rock Reserve, please follow the directions from our marshals. Please allow enough time to park and walk to the event site. Car Parking is free for event participants. 




    Closest train station to the event site is Woodend Train Station. 



    Sole Motive will provide plenty of bike parking at the event site. Please make sure to bring your own lock to ensure your bike is secure. 



    Take the hard work out of getting there and let us do the driving for you. We are offering a return bus to the event from Richmond Station for $40. The bus will leave Richmond Station at 6.15am getting you to the Event Village at approx 7:30am and will leave at the end of the event approx 12:15pm returning to Richmond Station around 2pm.

    Bag drop information

    Bag drop is available at the event village.


    Your race number features a tear-off strip for you to attach to your backpack or clothing bag. Keep your race bib so that you can collect your bag post-event.Please do not leave valuables in your bag. Sole Motive accepts no responsibility for lost or stolen items.


    Please note: this year we’re cutting down on single-use plastics and will not be providing plastic bags to put belongings in at the Bag Drop Marquee. Please remember to bring your own bag to the event.


    Will there be an awards ceremony at the end of the event and how will the top 3 place getters be awarded?

    Yes, placegetters will be awarded based on gun time rather than the adjusted time for each run (net time). If any runner want to place in this event, they must start in the first wave. Medals will be presented to place getters from the stage approx 30 mins post race.

    How will I be timed on day?

    All runners will be timed. If you wish to receive a finishing time all participants must wear their RACE BIB. Your Race Bib contains a disposable timing chip, if you don’t wear your bib, you won’t receive an official time. 


    Please wear your race bib on the front of your top and ensure it is visible. 

    Where can I find my results?

    Unofficial results are live as you cross the finish line. Official results are available online from3pm.


    Participants who have nominated to receive SMS results and have paid an additional $2 will receive two SMS messages, one as they cross the finish line and then a second text will with their official time around midday, and finishers will receive a certificate via email. 

    What is net time?

    Net time is the time the participant crosses the start line until they cross the finish line. This is how results are displayed on the website, and will be used to award aged category places. These times are for participant information only and are not used to determine place getters. Placegetters are determined by gun time – the first three male and females across the finish line.




    Direction from the Victorian Government is that all participants over 12yrs 2mths must be fully vaccinated or have a valid medical exemption. You are required to show proof of vaccination status or your exemption when arriving onsite and check in via the event QR code. 


    The following can be used when having your vaccination status verified:

    Digital:COVID-19 digital certificate using the Service Victoria app OR COVID-19 digital certificate in a smart phone wallet

    Printed: (especially for those who plan not to bring their phone)COVID-19 digital certificate or immunisation history statement OR Australian Immunisation Register certificate

    What if Run The Rock does not take place on Saturday 30 April 2022, for reasons relating to the COVID-19 Pandemic?

    Where possible, the event will be rescheduled. Registered participants for events that are postponed due to COVID-19 by the state or local health authorities are automatically transferred to the rescheduled date.
    For those that the new date does not work, we will provide other options such as an Event Credit note, which can be used towards any Sole Motive event.

    What if I am unable to get to the event due to border restrictions?

    Any affected participants will be offered an Event Credit to the value of their entry (including additional purchases).
