Take on the AIMS-certified 42.2km course which is a part of the prestigious 'World Marathon Majors' where you'll be able to take on an extraordinary challenge. If you've been thinking about taking on a marathon, now is the time!
There is no better place to feel the sensational feeling of setting exciting new PBs and smashing goals than Canberra, Australia's Capital City with its rich history and iconic landmarks, you'll get to be experience this alongisde thousands of other passionate runners.
The course will take you past unbeatable views of the Capital City running past iconic landmarks such as Old Parliament House, the National Triangle, and Canberra's centrepiece, Lake Burley Griffin.
Not only will you conquer an incredible distance, but you also have the opportunity to earn a ranking or secure entry in the Age Group World Championships through this race.

COURSE MAP
The Marathon course takes you on a loop of Parliament and then around Telopea Park onto Kings Avenue to State Circle.
From there you’ll run on Adelaide Avenue towards Yarralumla and into Weston Park. You will then follow Alexandrina Dr back towards Commonwealth Ave
Then, you will run over the Commonwealth Avenue Bridge onto Parkes way and out to the Glenloch Interchange to a turnaround point. You’ll then return on Parkes Way to the Morshead Drive turnaround.
You’ll then head over Kings Avenue Bridge and complete a second loop of Telopea before heading to the finish line!

General Information
Age limits
Participants must be 18 years + on race day.
Start line
King George Terrace, Parkes
Marathon starts: 6:15am
Marathon start closes: 6:30am
Priority Start
Any participant who plans on running under 4min/km can apply for a priority start at the front of the start. Please upload your "proof of results when you register".
Marathon road cut off
6:30am - All participants must have crossed the start line
10:30am - Clear turnaround at Flynn Drive traffic lights (23.5km)
11:30am - Reached Half Marathon turnaround on Parkes Way. Runners approaching after cutoff time must turn around on Parkes. They may continue running back, but no official time recorded. (28.5km)
1:00pm - Clear Kings Ave Bridge onto Bown Drive (37.5km)
2:00pm - All participants must have crossed the Finish Line (42.2km)
Drink stations
Located approximately every 2.5km - 3km on the course.
Marathon participants are able to utilise the personal refreshment drop off. If you require personal refreshments throughout your race you can drop off your refreshments at the Info Marquee on Saturday 6 April between 8am - 2pm.
Please note that FIXX Nutrition is the electrolyte and Gu is the gel supplier.

Clothes left on barriers at start line
All clothes that have been left on barriers at the start line will be collected and donated to charity.
Clothing storage
Clothing storage is available during the run/walk. Your race number features a tear-off strip for you to attach to your backpack or clothing bag. Do not leave any valuables in your bag as we cannot accept responsibility for valuables lost or stolen.
We no longer offer single-use plastic bags at the bag drop, so please remember to bring your own bag to the event.
Wheelchair information
Racing wheelchair:If you are a racing wheelchair please contact timing@solemotive.com to secure your spot. The racing wheelchair wave will start approximately 10 minutes before the official Marathon start – at 6:05am. Please be at the start line no later than 5:50am
Non racing wheelchair:Sole Motive accommodates wheelchairs in our event. If you’re not a Racing Wheelchair Athlete, please start at the back of the final wave in your event.
Will there be an awards ceremony at the end of the event and how will the top 3 place getters be awarded?
Yes, place getters will be awarded based on gun time rather than the adjusted time for each run (net time). Trophies and prizes will be presented to participants post-race.
NOTE: Age group medals will be posted to the Top 3 placegetters in the following age groups 2-3 weeks after the event

Trophies and monetary prizes will be awarded to overall 1st, 2nd, 3rd male and female place getters.
