    COURSE MAP

    The Marathon will start on Beach Road at Green Point, Brighton. The marathon will complete two laps of its assigned course.

    GENERAL INFORMATION

    Age Limits

    Participants must be 18 years + on race day.

     

    Start Line

    Beach Road at Green Point, Brighton

    Marathon Racing Wheelchair starts: 5:55am

    Marathon starts 6:00am

    Marathon start closes 6:20am

     

    Priority Start

    Male participants who run under 3h 15min, and female participants who run under 3h 30min qualify for a priority start.

     

    Please apply in the registration process.

     

    Marathon Road Cut Off

    The Brighton Beach Marathon distances have a strict course (road) cut off time of 11:00am. Cut off times are enforced to ensure the roads are re-opened in accordance with the event permits.

    6:20am  - All participants must have crossed the start line

    9:45am - Clear southern turnaround (32km)

    10:15am - Reached Clock Tower (36km)

    10:35am - Clear Bay Road (39km)

    11:00am - Road Finish Line Closes

    12:30pm  - All participants must have crossed the Finish Line (non-AIMS-certified) within the Event Village (42.2km)

     

    All runners must be off the roads by 11:00am.

     

    INFORMATION FOR 5HR+ MARATHON RUNNERS

    There is an alternate route for those participants who will be running at a 5hr+ Marathon Pace. Participants who are unable to run at a sub 5hr marathon pace on race day need to be aware that they will be redirected onto the footpaths if they do not meet any of the above road cut off times. Please note that the course on the footpaths is not measured to AIMS standards which means if you do not cross the finish line on the road by 11:00am, your race will not be AIMS-certified. Runners will still receive an official time, finishers T-shirt and a finisher medal.

     

    Split Times

    The timing system will record splits at 10km, 20km, 30km and 40km.

     

    Marathon Wave Start Times

    5:55am - Wheelchair wave

     

    6:00am - Priority:

    Priority: Male runners aiming to finish the race in under 3hr 15min and female runners aiming to finish the race in under 3hr 30min.

     

    6:03am - Wave A:

    Wave A: This is for runners aiming to finish the race under 4hrs.

     

    6:06am - Wave B:

    This is for runners aiming to finish the race over 4hrs.

     

    6:20am - Start line closes

     

    **Please note that the Marathon is a two lap course.

    Kilometre Markers

    The kilometre markers for the Marathon will be coloured RED.

     

    Personal Refreshments
    Marathon participants are able to utilise the personal refreshment drop off.
     
    If you require personal refreshments throughout your race you can drop off your refreshments at the Info Marquee in the Event Village on Saturday 29 August between 10am - 3pm.

     

    Toilets, First Aid Posts, Drink Stations

    Located approximately every 2.5km - 3km on the course.

     

    Please note that FIXX Nutrition is the electrolyte and gel supplier.

     

    FIXX Nutrition Electrolytes will be available.

    FIXX Gels will be available to only Marathon participants.

    Wheelchair Information

    Racing Wheelchair:If you are a racing wheelchair please contact timing@solemotive.com to secure your spot. The racing wheelchair wave will start approximately 5 minutes before the official Half Marathon start – 5:55am. Please be at the start line no later than 5:35am.

     

    Non Racing Wheelchair:Sole Motive accommodates wheelchairs in our event. If you’re not a Racing Wheelchair Athlete, please start at the back of the final wave in your event.

     

    Will there be an awards ceremony at the end of the event and how will the top 3 place getters be awarded?

    Yes, placegetters will be awarded based on gun time. If any runner wants to place in this event, they must start in the first wave. Medals will be presented to place getters from the stage post race.
