    Our COVID-Safe Plan

With the launch of our 2021 Events calendar, we will be delivering these events in a modified format to ensure they are in accordance with the Victorian Government’s guidelines.

Sole Motive’s priority is to protect the safety and wellbeing of all event participants, staff, volunteers and the broader community.

For each event we will continue to work alongside local stakeholders and authorities to ensure the event is safe for all and still offer participants a great and memorable running experience.

All changes and procedures that will take place at our events will follow a COVID-safe plan that will reflect the government requirements in place at the time in order to ensure we deliver a safe event.

Some of the planning underway may include:

All participants and spectators to be registered prior to the event where possible.

Registration will be done online where participants will be asked to choose a preferred start time based on their pace.

Distancing of 1 person per 4m2 and 1.5m apart will be adhered to at all times.

This includes at on-site registrations, toilet blocks, Sole Motive retail store, start lines and general standing areas.

Ground markings will be used to assist.

Staggered race starts will be in place to ensure waves can be set out with a number capacity and to ensure social distancing is followed.

Where on the day registration takes place on-site, collection and spectator sign-ins will be staggered with ground markings to assist.

All entry forms will be completed online and any non-registered participants & spectators must scan an event QR code upon entry of the event for contact tracing purposes.

Numbers will be capped based on the Victorian Government guidelines in place at the time of the event.

Race bibs are able to be posted to participants to reduce crowding at registration.

Any on the day sign ups must adhere to social distancing guidelines.

We encourage participants to have their bibs posted to them; however, if this is not an option, we will provide all participants with collection details.

To avoid group gatherings, there will be spacing in the event village between marquees and markings to help with social distancing.

Participants will only be able to arrive at the event at a set time with staggered arrival times.

Additional cleaning will take place in hygiene areas, such as bathrooms and at drink stations.

As per usual, gloves will be used & hand sanitiser will be used throughout the event. Volunteers/staff will be required to wear masks.

All participants will be encouraged to bring their own water (bottle, hydration pack, flip-belt, etc) if possible.

We will be employing a low risk strategy to ensure participants can still get their hydration on the course.

Drink stations will be run with volunteers to distribute the cups and a different team collecting the rubbish to minimise any cross contamination.

Other drink stations may be more self-sufficient.

To further minimise the need to gather in groups, all race briefings will be conducted online for participants to read or watch pre-event.

Finisher presentations will also be online.

Signage will be used around the event site as constant reminders to all involved to adhere to the COVID guidelines.

Hand sanitiser stations will be prominent and available for all staff, volunteers and participants to use.
